The jeweler Micki Lippe addresses her experience with the Northwest landscape. Her most recent body of work, including In the Woods, moves away from her precise and elegantly designed jewelry forms and reflect the seeming randomness of the undergrowth of the region's forests. Her selection of beads. threads, ribbons and other materials are inspired by images she discovers in her weekly hikes. She seeks to capture the color relationships and the seemingly unsystematic juxtapositions of various components in the forest detritus. Lippe free-form necklaces and earring meld her sense of awe of the natural bounty of the Northwest with her highly refined intuition about jewelry design.
